Arunachal Pradesh does not have an airport but it is now well connected by Pawan Hans helicopter service from Guwahati in Assam and Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh to Tawang,Tezu,Namsai,Mohanbari,Roing,Annini,Dambuk,Mebo,Pasighat,Along, Yingkiong and Hayuliang

Arunachal Pradesh is well connected by roads. Interstate services are available from major towns of Arunachal Pradesh to various destinations in Meghalaya, Assam and Nagaland. The state owned Arunachal Pradesh State transport services and many operators ply these routes. Guwahati is at a distance of around 381 km from Itanagar. Distances of some important places in Arunachal Pradesh from Itanagar are Malinithan, 162 km; Bomdila, 360 km; Dirang, 403 km; Parasuram Kund, 795 km; Namdapha, 640 km; Ziro, 168 km; Pasighat, 280 km; and Along, 335 km.

Entry Formalities

Travelling to Arunachal Pradesh has been made easier. A number of entry formalities have been relaxed for foreign tourists. The formalities are general to visitors entering some of the other seven sister states of North-Eastern India. At the same time Government policy has also opted for certain safety measures to allow for a gradual cultural interaction and influence in the state that is comparatively new in the field without hurting traditional values and degrading the state's pristine beauty.

Any domestic tourist coming to Arunachal Pradesh has to obtain an Inner Line Permit. Inner Line Permit can be obtained from any of the following officers of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

Foreign tourists can now visit in a group of two or more persons as against the earlier requirement of four or more persons. The stay permit for foreign visitors has also been extended to 30 days from the earlier permit of 10 days.

Foreign Tourists intending to visit Arunachal Pradesh require a Restricted Area Permit. The foreign tourists can obtain the Protected Area Permit from:

The permit can be obtained for a period of 30 (thirty) days for a group consisting of two or more persons.

Foreign Tourists visiting Arunachal Pradesh will have to pay US$ 50 per head to Government of Arunachal Pradesh and application for RAP should be applied through Local approved tour operator.
