Dr. Sarkar’s granddaughter, Mrs. Wankhar, currently oversees the museum, continuing the family’s legacy of entomological study and preservation​

The museum boasts an extensive collection of over 1,600 species of butterflies and moths from around the world. In addition to these, visitors can also see a variety of beetles, stick insects, and other colorful and unique insect species. The Butterfly Museum is conveniently located about 2 kilometers from the Shillong Bus Stand and 2 kilometers from Police Bazaar, making it easily accessible for tourists. The museum is open from Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM, and on Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM. It is closed on Sundays. The entry fee is INR 50 for Indian visitors and INR 100 for foreigners
